Terms of Service for R2D2 Secure Authenticator
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing and using the R2D2 Secure Authenticator extension ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension.
2. Description of Service
R2D2 is a free, open-source two-factor authentication (2FA) tool that generates time-based (TOTP) and counter-based (HOTP) codes.
3. License
The Extension is licensed under the MIT License. You are free to use, copy, modify, and distribute the software, provided that the original copyright notice and this permission notice are included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software.
4. User Responsibilities
- Master PIN: You are solely responsible for remembering your Master PIN. If you lose your PIN, your encrypted data cannot be recovered.
- Backups: While the Extension provides backup features (Local Export and Google Drive), you are responsible for maintaining regular backups of your secrets.
- Security: You should use the Extension on a secure, non-compromised device.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developers of R2D2 shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the Extension, including but not limited to loss of access to accounts or data.

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Extension at any time, with or without notice. As an open-source project, the community is free to fork and maintain the code independently.

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the lead developer resides, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
